ISSUANCE OF NOTIFICATION ON BRINGING GOLD OR SILVER BULLION/INGOT BY INCOMING PASSENGERS INTO BANGLADESH. REF: FEPD CIRCULAR NO. 03 DATED 20.01.2016.

In supersession of Bangladesh Bank’s Notification No. FE-1/96-BB dated January 14, 1996, Bangladesh Bank has issued Notification No. FE-01/2016-BB, dated January 20, 2016 (reprinted copy enclosed) on the captioned subject.

Please bring the content of the Notification to the notice of all concerned. Meanwhile please acknowledge receipt.

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 8(1) of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947 (VII of 1947) read with the erstwhile Central Government Notification No. 1(2)-ECS/48 dated July 01, 1948, and in suppression of Bangladesh Bank’s Notification No. FE-1/96-BB dated Jamuary 14, 1996, Bangladesh Bank has decided that incoming passengers irrespective of their resident status may bring into Bangladesh gold or silver in bullion/ingot form up to the prescribed limit in terms of relevant Baggage Rules in force issued under the Customs Act, 1969.
